    This five-week workshop played with the building blocks of poetry and launched an investigation into the poem’s materiality, the way its structure interprets natural and built forms, patterns and textures, and wavers between the grounded and the immaterial.

    This five-week workshop explored the history of the poetic image as a synesthetic moment, the activation of all the senses, along with the evolution of cinema: from Imagism and French New Wave to Instagram poetry and digital video art.

    In this five-week workshop we wrote together into a poetics of solitude: its life in literature, in books and on screens, and what’s behind the screens—the materiality of being alone (sometimes in a crowd), the economies, secrets and reveals of a solitary practice.

  • POEMS ARE A RIVER: WRITING BUILT AND NATURAL FORM
    Fall 2019

    This one-day workshop explored Woodland Pattern’s home neighborhood of Riverwest in Milwaukee, WI, playing with space on a poetic walk from A to B to the nearby Gordon Park where we spoke (in poetry) to its sculptures, structures—and the river.
